Jennifer, my dear, here is the test block. It came out 8 1/4 x 8 1/4 no matter how hard I tried to finagle it larger. Do you want me to shoot for the 8 1/2 x 8 1/2, or keep the original size?
Thank you! I feel much better! That's the block I made and it also came out 8-1/4 by 8-1/4. Either I'm not crazy after all -- or you and I are both crazy, Dee. Well -- that's entirely possible :)
OH, no! I didn't mean that you should choose another block, Dee. I'm sure that will be fine, and the fabric placement will probably b different anyway.
We may both be crazy, but apparently great minds think alike.
Oh, Jennifer, I don't think it was wasted! Look how many of us got to try something new, stretch our wings or try curved piecing again! I'm sorry if it seems hard, I'm just so anxious that this quilt top be what you're hoping it to be and I don't want to disappoint!
Truly, it hasn't been a trouble, but making blocks for another person, for me, can be unsettling 'cause I'm afraid they won't like what I make!
Thanks for answering me back and I will make your block and get it sent on its way. I think the quilt is going to be lovely!
I'm curious... does anyone know why some NYB patterns make the "background" part in 2 pieces, while others make it a single piece? Do you suppose it's for ease of construction, to save fabric, or is it something else? Thanks for your thoughts.
Jennifer, this is a hard block to learn and do. I love doing them, but am finding the smaller arc difficult to pin and sew. But, we don't grow unless we're stretched and challenged! I'm putting the corner background fabric on today, and Suzanna, I have no idea why they split it up. Ease of construction is as good a reason as any!
